Police are trying to find a known suspect wanted in connection with the murder of elderly Mahaica farmer Ramlogan Singh, called ‘Tun Tun,’ who was found dead in his home last Sunday.
The police had initially detained five persons for questioning, but later released them.
A police source told Stabroek News that there have been no further developments in the investigations but they are looking for a known suspect in the area but no contact has been made as yet.
When he was discovered by his grandson, Singh, 74, was lying on his stomach, with his hands and feet tied behind his back and a piece of cloth tied tightly around his mouth.
A post-mortem examination on Friday revealed that he died as a result of manual strangulation.
The man’s home was ransacked but his relatives said that they do not see robbery as the motive behind his death, since he had other valuables and only money was taken from the house. His family said they are still awaiting more information from the police.
