Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton remanded 21-year-old Michael ‘Mikey’ Persaud who allegedly strangled the mother of his child at their Lot 8, North Sophia home.
The Georgetown Magistrate’s Court heard that on December 22, Madhuri Padumdeo’s nude body was discovered in her home with her alleged murderer lying naked beside her. Padumdeo and Persaud shared a common law relationship of five years. Persaud was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him in court.
Prosecutor Luckhai Jairam told the court that on the said day, the accused and Padumdeo had been seen fighting in their yard after which Persaud allegedly dragged the woman into their home and closed the door.
About 11am the same day, Padumdeo’s boss made checks at her home as she had not turned up for work, and found Persaud lying on a bed alongside the woman who had a piece of red and black wire wrapped around her neck.
The matter will be called again on January 16.
