Jamaican dancehall artiste Konshens and reggae singer Alaine will perform live tonight at the Princess Hotel Poolside.
Next Level Entertainment and Pulse Entertainment in collaboration with the hotel are hosting the Old Year’s Night event and promise a very high energy show.
Konshens, during a press briefing yesterday, said patrons can look forward to a very rounded performance and disclosed that this may be his last appearance in Guyana for the next year or more.
Konshens, 26, said he is looking forward to celebrating with the Guyanese people, while he pointed out that leaving his hometown at this time was very difficult.
“I gave up the world to be here… family, assignments in Jamaica right now… but Guyana ah me second home,” he said.
“First New Year I’ll be here and that is important to me even more than Christmas because it’s a new year and you have to put a firm foot down and start the year properly and I’ll be doing that with the people of Guyana,” he added
He further revealed that he has a new 17-song album scheduled to be released on February 28. He considered the compilation as one of the “hardest tasks ever” and stated that fans can also look forward to new videos.
Meanwhile, General Manager of the Princess Hotel, Muharrem Kulekci, indicated that a black tie event will also be hosted in the conference room of the hotel. There, he said, patrons can enjoy music by popular group, GT Jazz and also a very upscale dinner.
However, the “fun party,” he said, will be downstairs where a buffet dinner will be served from 8 pm to 12 pm. Patrons of this party will be entertained by Pulse DJs, the Classique Dance Group and the hotel’s Russian dancers.
There will be a countdown with the two headlining acts followed by fireworks at midnight. Performances by Konshens and Alaine, Kulekci said, will begin at 1 am. “This will be the biggest party in Guyana for 2011 into 2012… Wonderful show and wonderful music,” he said.
VVIP tickets (inclusive of dinner and drinks all night) for the event cost $20,000; VIP tickets (drinks all night) $15,000; and regular tickets $5,000.
