One month ‘wake-up call’ behind bars for husband who hit wife

Andrew Morris was yesterday sentenced to one month in jail by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton, who told him he needed “a wake-up call” after he pleaded guilty to abusing his wife with a piece of wood.

The Georgetown Magistrates’ Court heard that on December 27, at East Ruimveldt, Morris assaulted his wife, Abigail Morris, so as to cause her actual bodily harm.

In presenting the facts of the case to the court, Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield said that on the day in question, there was a
