A man was yesterday sentenced to three months in jail by Magistrate Hazel Octave–Hamilton after he admitted stealing
A man who stole a woman’s cellular phone while visiting her home was yesterday sentenced to a three-month jail term.
Marlon Bradshaw pleaded guilty to stealing the $17,000 phone from Claire McCalmon’s Jackson Dam, East La Penitence home on December 24.
After he pleaded guilty to the charge, Bradshaw asked the court for a lenient sentence. “Your Worship, I asking you to please give me something that meh gonna be satisfied with,” he said.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield said that McCalmon, who is a nail technician, was at her home doing her work and placed her cellular phone on a table. Bradshaw, a visitor at the time, was seen walking around the table where she left the item. He later left abruptly.
Mansfield noted that the woman later made checks for her phone and discovered that it was missing. As result, a report was made and Bradshaw was arrested. He admitted to the charge, Mansfield added.
After listening to the remorseful Bradshaw, the magistrate sentenced him and advised him that he should be of good behaviour after he serves his time.
