President Donald Ramotar and all ministers of government will be present at the National Stadium to witness the finals of this year’s Kashif and Shanghai football tournament tomorrow and to publicly demonstrate their support to the organizers, who have been subjected to a boycott organized by opposition supporters.
At a post-Cabinet press briefing held yesterday at the Office of the President, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon informed that the decision was made by consensus while he reiterated his condemnation of the boycott of businesses that supported the PPP/C.
The youth arm of opposition coalition A Partnership for National Unity, the Youth Coalition for Transformation, has called for a nationwide boycott of the annual event, in light of the support by Kashif and Shanghai’s organizers of the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic.
Luncheon has stated that the boycotts were seen as malicious and that the YCT should not target sports, which also directly benefit youth.
