Beres Hammond ranks among the best reggae artistes in the world because of his appeal to people of all walks of life and the depth of his music catalogue, and according to Hits and Jams’ Kerwin Bollers this makes him the perfect artiste for the much anticipated Easter Sunday event.
The ‘Beres Hammond: A Moment in Time’ concert, which is hosted by Hits and Jams Entertainment in collaboration with the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, is set for April 24. It is being sponsored by the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) and Ansa McAl’s Mackeson Stout.
At a press conference yesterday at GT&T’s head office, it was disclosed that Alaine, the Jamaican songbird, has been added to the line up. Alaine, along with Guyanese Timeka Marshall, will be opening for Hammond come Easter Sunday at the National Stadium.
Bollers said Beres Hammond is expected to give the audience two full hours of popular hits and have patrons relive the experience of six years ago. “Beres gonna bring the same vibes he did six years ago when he came here to Guyana with Maxi Priest,” Bollers expressed. He added that it was the intention of promoters to have only Hammond as the main attraction. “It is deliberate that we chose to have Beres alone… we don’t want to put too many people on the stage. Beres by himself is a concert,” Bollers declared.
He also said it will be very fortunate to have this concert now since the artiste is expected to release a new album and will be on a 1-year world tour.
Chief Executive Officer of GT&T Yog Mahadeo expressed that the “heartbeat of GT&T is the heartbeat of Guyana,” and according to him, he would like to keep that heart pumping. “We want to ensure our subscribers have fun,” he said.
Meanwhile, Darshanie Yussuf, Public Relations Officer of Ansa McAl, stated that because of the popularity and high standard of the artiste, the company is overwhelmed to be part of the event. “There’s not a song on his list that we as Guyanese don’t know, so yes, we are definitely onboard,” Yussuf said.
Also present at the conference was Varsha Sharma of Glamour Designs, which is also sponsoring the event and is the only distributor of VIP tickets. Sharma informed of a 10% discount on tickets customers of the boutique are eligible for with every purchase.
Also at Gizmos and Gadgets, she said, one free general ticket will be given away to customers who spend $10,000 and over at any of the store’s locations.
GT&T’s CEO also stated that a number will soon be advertised to which subscribers can send a message and guarantee themselves a $3,000 discount on VIP tickets. These text messages, he said, will be at the regular rate.
Ansa McAl also will be having a promotion whereby persons can secure 6 Mackeson Stout corks in an envelope on which they will write their names and telephone numbers. These envelopes can then be deposited at the White Castle Fish Shop before April 22 and a drawing will be done which will see 5 VIP tickets and 5 general tickets given away.
Also sponsoring the event is Ashmin’s Trading, E-Networks, Gizmos and Gadgets and HJTV. Persons can uplift all general tickets at Ashmin’s Trading.
Bollers said, this is “our way of saying Happy Easter to you”.
