Police say that at about 1830h yesterday two men armed with a handgun and a cutlass entered the house of Meena Gobin, 30 years and her sister Jeenarine Narine, 26 years, at Betsy Ground, Canje, through an open door and held them up. The men, police said, then took away $40,000 and escaped.
The two sisters subsequently went in search of their father Dilip Narine, 60 years, who was outside in the yard at the time of the robbery and found him with several chop wounds about his body, according to police. He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital from where he was referred to the GPHC and has been admitted for further medical attention.
Investigations are in progress.
