Police say that at about 2100h last night, an armed private security guard on duty at a residence at Jamoon Drive, Meadow Brook, Georgetown, saw a man jump over the compound fence and enter the premises.
The police said that the armed guard challenged the intruder during which the trespasser was shot to his left foot.
The man who is so far unidentified has been admitted a patient in a stable condition at the GPHC, police said.
Investigations are in progress.
