Police have arrested a man following an early morning robbery and kidnapping at Bent Street, Georgetown yesterday.
They also recovered an unlicensed .32 Taurus revolver with five rounds at a Sophia home.
Police in a press release stated that around 02:30 hrs yesterday, a man armed with a handgun entered the home of 59-year-old Margaret Griffith and held her up at gunpoint, while relieving her of a quantity of jewellery.
The gunman then abducted Griffith’s 18-year-old niece, Ashanti Payne. The man taped her hands with duct tape and took her away in a waiting car.
Quick response by the police led to the search of a house at ‘D’ Field, Sophia where the abducted teen was found around 07:30 hrs.
