Kennard’s Memorial Cricket Club, of Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, became the first team to reach the last 16 of the 2011 New Building Society second division limited overs competition in Berbice after winning their last preliminary round match of Zone K.
In the match against Mibicuri Strikers, played at Bush Lot Farm Ground, Kennard Memorial, batting first, reached 215 for 9 from 30 overs thanks largely to Doodnauth Ramnarine’s 98 which included 10 fours and 2 sixes.
Ramnarine held the innings together, putting on 84 for the fourth wicket with Thomas George (18) and 44 for the fifth wicket with Hemraj Mankarran (16).
Bowling for Mibicuri Strikers, Ravi Sooklall, took 3 for 48, Lekhram Paltee 2 for 26 and Dwayson Watson 2 for 40.
In reply, Mibicuri Strikers were skittled out for 27 (of which extras contributed 12) failing to cope with the pace of Mankarran and the off spin of Quincy Grimmond.
Grimmond ended with 5 for 4 from 4.3 overs and Mankarran 5 for 11 from 5 overs as Kennard’s triumphed by 188 runs.
