The body of 54-year-old Denesh Persaud was found in his home on Tuesday last and it was revealed that the man died of manual strangulation.
Police in a press release said that the discovery was made at around 07:20 hours at his Adelphi, East Canje, Berbice home.
The post mortem examination was performed yesterday by Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan and the cause of death was found to be manual strangulation.
According to one woman from the village, Persaud was known to be a heavy drinker and would usually injure himself while under the influence.
The source stated that the man, who lived with his brother, was seen drunkenly walking through the village covered in mud the day prior to the discovery. People, she said, assumed that he had fallen into a trench.
