The Normal Singh Memorial Turf Club in collaboration with the Winner’s Circle Pools Hall and Bar will run off a horse race meet on January 29 at No. 6 Village, West Coast Berbice.
Eight races are carded for the meeting and over 65 horses have already been registered.
Two feature events are on the card: the B Class and Lower, with a distance of one mile and the Three-year-old Open Guyana and West Indies bred horses. The winner of the B Class will collect $1.2 million while the winner of the Three-year-old Open will pocket $600,000.
Other events on the card include the E Class and Lower, the Four-year-old Open for Guyana bred horses, the G Class and Lower, I and Lower and the Divisions 1, 2 and 3 races for non-finishers and horses that win one race.
According to a press release, track clerk Lenny Singh has already started work on the track while other infrastructural works have been completed.
