Reading the Stabroek News of January 18, about the PPP addressing the issue of loss of voters, Ralph Ramkarran accused the opposition of abandoning convention and that APNU in collusion with its junior partner the AFC unashamedly deployed its majoritarian will in parliament.
What Mr Ramkarran did not say is that he himself is responsible for the PPP failure to get an overall majority.
When Cheddi Jagan died it was expected that Ralph would have filled the space, but he allowed Janet Jagan to outmanoeuvre him. Then when the PPP was looking for a presidential candidate to contest the 2011 election Mr Ramkarran wanted the vote for the candidate to be by secret ballot, but here again he was out manoeuvred.
One does not have to be a political expert to know that if Mr Ramkarran had been at the helm the PPP would have secured full majority. Mr Ramkarran was much better known than Donald Ramotar, and is more articulate and presentable.
My advice to Mr Ramkarran is that he should now fade away like the early morning dew on the leaves.
