Nismes school pond filled: Last week, before the deadline given by Minister of Education Priya Manickchand ran out, the Pond in front of the Nismes Primary School was filled. Manickchand had blasted regional and education officials of Region Three over the delay in dealing with the issue, while visiting some schools in the area to address problems affecting them. The pond, a legacy from the community high school, which was formerly housed there, was once used for aquaculture. But with the removal of the CHS, it had fallen into disuse and had reportedly been inhabited by caiman. It was considered a hazard to the small children attending the school.
