Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) Boxer-of-the- Year 2011 Imran ‘Magic’ Khan said that he is rapidly recovering from the stab wound he sustained on his left arm last Thursday that required six stitches.
During an interview with Stabroek Sport at Khan’s home in Albouystown yesterday, the Road-to-London Olympic Games pugilist revealed that he has resumed shadow boxing and other boxing drills and is just awaiting the removal of the stitches tomorrow.
Khan, 19, was to co-headline the amateur segment of the 20th edition of the Guyana Fight Night Pro Am card this Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in a re-match with Richard Williamson, but was forced out of the fight after he was stabbed on Sussex Street while picking up his younger brother from school.
The ALBA Games bronze medalist also disclosed that the injury was just a minor setback as it will not hamper him from travelling to the International Boxing Association (AIBA) training camp stint in Cardiff, Wales from February 18 to March 10.
Khan’s assailant is still to be apprehended.
