The Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) says the MV Torani is back in operation after undergoing repairs.
According to the Government Information Agency (GINA), T&HD General Manager Marclene Merchant said, “The M.V. Torani underwent repairs after it was towed to Supenaam and the vessel has resumed its regular operations.”
The vessel developed mechanical difficulties near Hogg Island, in the Essequibo River, while en route to Supenaam. When it broke down, it had onboard seven trucks, six large canter vehicles and two cars. The only passengers onboard were the drivers of the said vehicles. The MV Torani was subsequently towed to Supenaam and repaired.
The MV Torani is one of three vessels that ply the Supenaam/Parika route daily, GINA said.
