Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton remanded a 28-year-old accused of stealing a gold chain from another’s house, when he yesterday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against Brandon Cumberbatch is that on January 18 at Georgetown, he stole from the dwelling house of Brian Eastman one gold chain valued $6,000; property of the said Eastman.
Cumberbatch, of 29 North Sophia, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of larceny from a dwelling house when it was read to him.
The prosecution did not present any facts on the matter but it objected to bail on the grounds that the accused provided a conflicting address; noting that while he has given the court a Sophia address, he told the police that he resides at 1515 Norton Street, Wortmanville.
Cumberbatch was ordered to appear in Court One on February 3 for reports and fixtures.
