Dear Editor,
I see there is another softball tournament being sponsored to tune of some $30,000,000. Very interesting, I thought. There is a lot of talk about the struggles of cricket in the region and what is needed for a turnaround. Organisers of ‘real’ cricket are always speaking of a lack of funds to have more hard-ball, 2-day or 4-day cricket. They say this sort of cricket helps the development of young cricketers to meet the Test levels. I wonder if organisations such as the Georgetown Cricket Association, and other similar bodies in the country, could utilize similar funding for their ‘real’ cricket development goals. I mean, really, you can only go so far by rolling a soft, bumper ball along the ground.
Yours faithfully,
Montgomery A Chester
