Dear Editor,
I am in the UK on personal business but I kept in touch with how things were developing in the country under the new dispensation. What a way to begin the new year – Freddie Kissoon’s disgraceful dismissal. From what I have read, those responsible have done a grave injustice amounting to a conviction without a fair trial. This can be no accident; if the University of Guyana is responsible then, I perceive their real motive is to prevent him forever getting a teaching post anywhere – it is like having a criminal record!
I hope the Minister of |Education would intervene and demand that due process be done not only for Mr Kissoon’s good name but also for the integrity of the university community itself.
I write this letter to register my sadness and shock at such behaviour of those in authority at UG and hope that the higher authority, government, would intervene to put things right.
