(Barbados Nation) Some of Rihanna’s controversial public images are of concern to tourism authorities.
But yesterday, the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) said despite the negativity, the Grammy Award-winning celebrity was still considered a major asset to Barbados, adding that the island had already started to reap success from her involvement in its promotions.
“I would not say there has not been concern about some of her utterances and some of her actions, but the way to deal with that is to have continuing dialogue with her,” BTA chairman Adrian Elcock told the SUNDAY SUN.
“Whenever you are using persons to represent your brand, there’s always going to be sensitivity. Rihanna is an individual who would have her beliefs about certain things, and regardless of whether or not she had a contract with the BTA or with Government, it does not stop her from expressing her views.”
