A businessman early yesterday shot and injured two burglars that he reportedly caught red-handed in his Waterloo Street, Georgetown premises.
Police said in a press release that the wounded men of Grove Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara and Charlotte Street, Georgetown are under guard at the Georgetown Hospital as the investigations continue.
The release said that around 01:30 hours businessman and licensed firearm holder Patrick De Freitas was awakened by noise at his premises.
He went to make checks during which he was confronted by two men armed with a spade and a cutlass.
The two men attacked De Freitas who discharged rounds from his firearm hitting one to the right thigh and the other to his left thigh.
Stabroek News was unable to make contact with De Freitas.
