A two-year-old boy who is suffering from a severe health condition requires kidney surgery and his mother is asking the public for financial assistance to meet the cost of the medical treatment.
Tessa Pratt told Stabroek News on Friday that her son, Emanuel Pratt, was born with a swelling in his right kidney and multiple cysts in the left kidney which have caused it not to fully develop.
“The only one that is functioning is the right side and that one is swollen,” she added.
She stated that the child previously attended a public clinic but she did not feel fully reassured that her son’s surgery would be successful. As a result, she travelled to Trinidad with Emanuel last December for a second opinion.
She saw a paediatric neurologist and feels assured that this specialist can do her son’s surgery and was given an estimate of TT$71,200 which is equivalent to GY$2,278,400.
The woman is asking for contributions towards this medical bill and emphasized that she will do everything in her power to ensure her child receives the best health care.
She further thanked persons who have already offered assistance towards this cause and pointed out that Digicel, Elegant Jewellery and the Seventh Day Adventist Conference are organizations that have already donated to assist her in offsetting Emmanuel’s medical expenses.
Persons who are interested in assisting two-year-old Emanuel can make contributions to Republic Bank account #289-7338 or contact the child’s mother on 693-1867 or 609-1785.
