The Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA) will be hosting a wake tonight from 19:00 hours for the late Robert Williams at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC), Thomas Lands.
According to Public Relations Officer of the GDA, Basil Bradshaw, the wake will be held to remember the contributions Williams made towards the development of the sport, and up to his death he was the president of the Guyana National Dominoes Federation (GNDF).
Bradshaw said that all affiliated members of the GDA are asked to be present for the event and are also urged to bring along a beverage. Williams, who was also the Deputy Mayor, died on Monday morning at the Caribbean Heart Institute, where he had been a patient for several weeks. He was 62 and will be buried next Wednesday.
He had been suffering from a heart condition for some time but his health took a drastic turn late last year when he had to be rushed to the heart institute. There, relatives said, Williams’ health deteriorated and he looked “lower and lower” over time.
