The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) will host a one-day national coaches forum for national and potential national football coaches this morning from 9am at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) building, Thomas Lands.
Approximately 25 coaches have been identified in to attend the forum which will be conducted by
Jamaal Shabaaz, head coach, of the Guyana men’s national football team.
The forum is expected to bring coaches up to date with “extant developments and initiatives in the coaching of football,” a release from the GFF stated.
Registration of participants will commence at 8.30am and will be followed by a brief opening ceremony at 9am.
In the absence of Franklin Wilson, President (ag.), who is currently overseas, brief opening remarks will be delivered by George Rutherford, Deputy General Secretary of the GFF,
the release stated.
Meanwhile, the local contingent of the national men’s team, the Golden Jaguars, will be encamped from today to commence official preparation for competition in the third stage of the FIFA Brazil 2014 World Cup qualification preliminaries.
Members of the squad will be encamped at the Raddison Suites Hotel in Georgetown, under the keen eyes of Shabaaz and his assistant, Wayne Dover.
This month the team is scheduled to play in a number of friendly international games in the Caribbean, against teams from Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenana.
The Golden Jaguars will oppose Trinidad on February 15 and 17, St Vincent on February 20 and Grenada on February 23.
The team will then return home to play against
Guatemala at the Guyana National Stadium on February 29.
