Seven children and one adult for medical treatment in India

Seven children and one adult will be leaving Guyana on Friday for Max Hospital in India where they will be undergoing medical treatment.

The mission was organized and made possible through the efforts of Three Rivers Kids Foundation (TRKF), a registered charitable organization in Canada, a press release stated.

Four children and the adult patient will undergo open heart surgery to correct various forms of  congenital heart defects. One patient will be having brain surgery to remove a tumour and the other two children will be receiving treatment for kidney and skin problems.

The children who will benefit from this mission are Mark Anthony Singh of Good Fortuin, West Coast Demerara; Chandini Persaud of Parika, East Bank Essequibo; Tanisha Ali of Hope Lowlands, East Coast Demerara; Alvin Ramkumar of Best Village, West Coast Demerara; Anasazi Narain of Jibb Housing Scheme, Essequibo; Tomaisha Samuels, Hopetown, West Coast Berbice and Kara Hardy of Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara.

This will be Ramkumar’s third trip to India since he has to undergo yearly follow-up checkups for a kidney problem while  Hardy will be making her second trip to India for her second open heart surgery.

The group will spend two nights in Toronto on their way to New Delhi where they will attend a fundraising event.

Jeanette Singh, who is the president of the foundation and a registered nurse will be accompanying the group to India. The patients will be under the care of Dr. Viresh Mahajan, Paaediatric Cardiologist, the release added.
