The 13th annual Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) annual International Olympic Committee (IOC) Sports Administrators’ Course will commence this afternoon.
The four-day course is sponsored by Olympic Solidarity and will be held at Olympic House, 76 High Street, Kingston, Georgetown.
The course will commence at 6pm today and will continue daily until Sunday.
The closing session will be held at 4:30pm on Sunday.
According to a press release from the GOA, the course is aimed at improving the knowledge of Sports Administrators so as to strengthen Sports Management. It is also hoped that participants gain a better understanding of the Olympic Movement and Olympic Solidarity programmes.
Each participant will receive the IOC Sports Administrators Manual and also IOC Certificates will be awarded to the successful participants.
Course Director Claude Blackmore will speak on the “Challenges facing sports in Developing Countries,” while Garfield Wiltshire, Treasurer of the GOA will lecture on Budget and Money Management.
Other speakers are Noel Adonis who will speak on Combining Education and Sports, Puisne Judge, Roxanne George who will speak on HIV/AIDS and Sports; Protecting youth in Sports and George Cave whose talk will be on Values and Ethics.
