The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is continuing to put the pressure on the Government of Guyana (GoG) over its establishment of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) to deal with the affairs of local cricket by pulling more matches from the National Stadium at Providence.
The third test match of the 2012 home series versus Michael Clarke’s Australian side has already been moved to Dominica, depriving the Guyanese public of the chance to see an Australian team in the country for the first time since 2003.
In addition, all of Guyana’s scheduled home matches of their current 2011/12 regional 4-day campaign have been moved out to Dominica, St. Kitts and Antigua so far.
Now matches in the upcoming India (A) tour to the Caribbean in June have been taken away from Guyana.
This was disclosed to Stabroek Sport by a WICB source who stated that the while the fixtures have yet to be decided due to ongoing discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Guyana was originally penciled to host matches, but due to the situation here the board has removed more matches from the Providence Stadium which has hosted two tests, eleven ODIs and 5 T20Is, since its debut international fixture on March 28, 2007 when South Africa and Sri Lanka faced off in the 2007 World Cup.
The India (A) tour is scheduled to have 4-day, 50 overs and Twenty20 matches and will be played simultaneously while the senior West Indies team will be on tour to England playing three tests, 3 one-day internationals and a singular T20.
