Stefan Corlette, Xenophon Goliath and Joel Alleyne were the winners of the East Coast Demerara Table Tennis Tournament played on Sunday at the Plaisance Community Centre.
Corlette warmed up for this year’s Caribbean TT championships billed for Cuba by defeating Zane Humphrey 3 – 0 in the Under-18 category.
Third was Vikash Horill.
In the Open singles category Joel Alleyne defeated Nathalie Cummings by three sets to one while Hewley Griffith placed third.
In the Masters category, Goliath won from second placed Joseph Benjamin and Merton Blake, who placed third.
A steering committee headed by Dr. Pradeep Balram, was also set up on Sunday. Other members of the East Coast Demerara TT committee are; Yadram Rajkumar, former Caribbean men’s singles finalist, Balkissoon, Andrew Miller, Joe Benjamin, Goliath and Blake.
Meanwhile the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) said its annual Mashramani tournament will commence tomorrow.
