A badly decomposed body believed to be that of Jaikishan ‘Josey’ Seebarran, 38, of No 3 Village, West Coast Berbice was discovered at the No 5 foreshore yesterday with suspected marks of violence.
Persons who stumbled upon the remains around 8 am informed the police and the man’s relatives. The body was removed yesterday afternoon.
Relatives told Stabroek News that although it was difficult to recognize the remains they still suspected that it could be those of Seebarran, a cash crop farmer.
His brother, Dhanraj known as ‘Bill’ last saw him alive around 7:30 pm on Sunday while a cousin, Nazreen said he visited her at No 4 Village on Sunday morning.
The man lived alone at a house belonging to a friend and when relatives did not see him on Monday they did not think anything was amiss.
They were shocked to receive the news yesterday morning that he had “drowned.” When they got to the scene they said it looked as though the man had been murdered.
His face was badly disfigured, as though it had been burned with “fire water” [acid] and there were chops to his ears and mouth.
