Two men accused of using a cutlass to inflict injuries to a man at the Sophia minibus park were yesterday placed on $45,000 bail each when they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on February 10, at Georgetown, Dason Jupiter and Kerwin Harding unlawfully and maliciously wounded Junior Prophet.
The duo was not required to plead to the charge when it was read to them by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton.
Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield said that on the day at about 16:30 hours, Prophet was standing at the Sophia minibus park when he was approached by Jupiter, who brandished a cutlass at him and a scuffle ensued.
The other accused who intervened, the prosecutor said, dealt a chop to Prophet’s elbow with a cutlass he had on him. The matter was reported by the wounded man and the accused were later arrested and charged.
Mansfield did not object to bail but made an application that it should be a substantial sum to ensure that the men return to court.
