Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh presented a 15-seater bus to the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre last week Friday to boost its operations.
According to the Government Information Agency (GINA), the bus was acquired at a cost of $6,199,857 and is equipped with a roof rack and access ladder. The bus was given to the Centre after then President Bharrat Jagdeo had committed to providing one for it during a visit last year.
During the presentation, Singh complimented the institution for the critical role it has played over the years in providing quality care for some of the most vulnerable persons in the society—the differently-abled.
GINA added that members of the management committee of the institution and of the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central attended the presentation ceremony, which was another partnership initiative between the government and the non-governmental organisation.
