A large herd of twelve cattle emanating from Third Street, Success, on the East Coast of Demerara roams the eastern neighbouring hamlet of Chateau Margot almost every day causing damage to residents’ properties, fences, garden, and bridges.
Many attempts to contact the Ministry of Home Affairs by telephone to lodge a complaint and request that a team of cow catchers come and impound these roaming, marauding, unattended cattle is futile because one is informed that that ministry’s building is under construction and telephone numbers to their new location are not available or known.
Every single day the owner of that particular herd of cattle can be seen willfully letting his cattle into this village unattended to feed, and while feeding themselves they destroy fences, bridges and gardens and just help themselves to property-owner’s flower plants and vegetables.
Once in the past a bull of this particular herd head butted a small schoolgirl on her way to school.
I would like Minister Rohee to be cognizant of this matter and send his ministry’s team of cow catchers to impound these cattle, as our personal pleas to the owner seem to enter one ear and go through the other.
