The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) will bounce off their calendar year with their Georgetown Basketball League which is scheduled to tip off tonight with two games at the Burnham Hard Courts, from 18:00hrs.
After a stagnant year last year, GABA is looking to move a couple steps forward with the development of the sport, beginning with the league which is expected to be an annual feature on the association’s calendar.
The league will feature 14 teams from around Georgetown along with additions from the west side.
Games will be played on a round-robin format with each team playing against each other at least once during a four-month period before going to the playoff rounds.
However, tonight will feature powerhouse Pepsi Sonics in the first game of the league taking on Eagles Basketball Club, while Macabees Basketball Club will face off against Nets Basketball Club.
Games will also continue tomorrow with Melanie Patriots versus Plaisance Guardians while West Jammers, a newly-formed club will go up against Panthers Basketball Club at 16:00 and 18:00 hrs respectively.
