Bartica Regatta champion, Conan Belle is showing superb post-surgery vital signs, at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, Intensive Care Unit, where he is recuperating from major surgery following a horrific motorbike accident in the gold mining township.
The young man’s mother Zenelle Belle, who remains on 24-hour watch over her oldest child, told this newspaper that her son shows signs of rapid healing as he had a long lucid conversation a mere few hours after coming out of sedation.
He however remains on heavy doses of the ultra pain killer morphine and informs that he is not feeling any pain.
The mother, surrounded by family members and friends, said she was overjoyed at the progress her son was making in such a short post-operation time.
She said she flew into Guyana immediately after receiving the message that her son had been hospitalised, breaking abruptly from her studies at a United States university. She explained that she will not be returning until Conan has recuperated enough to travel back with her.
Conan’s father, Stephen Belle, although not a patient of the hospital, remains medically monitored, since doctors had found on his arrival at the GPH with his son that his blood pressure had skyrocketed.
On Monday night Conan Belle had to be rushed, by speedboat and ambulance, to the GPHC from Bartica after he was involved in a motorcycle accident a few corners from his home.
On his journey to the local hospital there was another mishap where 26-year-old Ganesh Dharie was killed by the ambulance on the Meten-meer-zorg Public Road.
