Digicel secured the top spot in several categories of this year’s Mashramani costume and float parade while local songster Adrian Dutchin is the winner of the Road March competition.
According to the results seen by this newspaper Digicel was the winner of the full costume (large) category ahead of Banks DIH; the best king costume category ahead of the Ministry of Education; male individual category ahead of Banks DIH and the best female costume category ahead of Banks DIH.
The Ministry of Agriculture won the full costume (medium) ahead of the Ministry of Tourism while the Ministry of Education won the full costume (small) ahead of the Public Service Ministry.
Ansa McAl was adjudged the winner of the Queen costume followed by Youth Coalition for Transformation (YCT) and Banks DIH.
YCT meanwhile won the semi-costume (large) followed by Banks DIH and Slingshot, while the Chinese Association managed to get the nod of the judges for the semi-costume (medium) category ahead of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Banks DIH won the commercial floats title ahead of Don Gomes Optical, while the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport won the non-commercial float category ahead of YCT and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Region Three won the full costume medium category followed by Region Four and Region Five. The small full costume category was won by Region Six followed by the Ministry of Local Government.
The results revealed that Region Four won the King (individual costume) followed by Regions Three and Five, while Region Four also secured the Queen title followed by Regions Three and Six.
Dutchin’s song, `I am a Guyanese’ played the most during the costume and float parade followed by Vanilla’s `Rage’ and `Regardless’ by Tropical and Mystic.
