Police say that at about 1600h yesterday, two students were attacked by two men armed with a handgun and a knife at David Street, Campbellville. The perpetrators took away the students’ jewellery and a cell phone and escaped on a bicycle, police said.
The two victims raised an alarm and a licensed firearm holder responded and gave chase behind the two men during which one of them was shot to his buttocks and left foot, according to the police. He managed to flee, but was later arrested when he went to seek medical attention at the GPHC where he is under guard.
The other perpetrator was arrested by the licensed firearm holder and handed over to the police. A gold pendant was recovered along with the knife used in the robbery. He is in police custody.
