The Ministry of Health says ten persons have graduated from its two-year certificate dentex programme and will soon be despatched to serve in regions two, four and eight.
Minister of Health Dr Bheri Ramsaran, in his charge to the graduates said the ceremony marks a new beginning for the dental fraternity as it is the first group to graduate from the dentex programme, a collaborative effort between the University of Guyana and the Ministry of Healthโs Dentex certificate programme.
He urged the graduates to maintain a level of professionalism in their duties, while at the same time striving for excellence.
He also urged the group to reflect on the contributions that persons in their lives would have made that has allowed them to complete the programme, according to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release. In addition, he assured them that the ministry will continue to support their future endeavours.
Director of Health Sciences Education at the ministry, Noel Holder, joined others in the dental fraternity in congratulating the graduates. President of the Dental Council Dr Ovid Isaacs also gave an address.
GINA said the programme started in 2009 at the Cheddi Jagan Dental Centre and was completed early this year. Currently more than 40 youth are enrolled in the programme at the various levels.
