The Thomas United 52nd Anniversary/Winners Connection Mashramani Challenge Cup Knock-out Competition resumes this evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground with an intriguing doubleheader.
In the curtain raiser which commences at 6.30pm, Milerock, the Chosen Ones, will engage co-hosts Winners Connection while the feature match will pit Amelia’s Ward against Bakewell Topp XX from 8.30pm.
The competition, which got underway on February 12, at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda, was put on hold by the organisers to facilitate matches in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National League Qualifiers.
In the lone encounter which was contested at GFC, City side Pele Football club inflicted on 8-1 drubbing over Linden side Netrockers with National striker Gregory “Jackie Chan” Richardson and Stellon David each scoring a double.
The competition will continue on Friday with another doubleheader at the GFC ground, Bourda. Over $1,000,000 in cash incentives, along with trophies, medals and individual prizes are at stake. German’s Restaurant, Ming’s Products and Services and Sol Service Station Mc Doom, E.B.D, are among the major sponsors in addition to Ram’s Pharmacy, Cell Shop and Lingerie Shop; both of Cummings Street, Bourda, and the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation.
