At the conclusion of a preliminary inquiry at the Springlands Court yesterday, a 19-year-old fisherman was yesterday committed to stand trial in the High Court for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old man.
Reports are that on April 6, 2011, Mulshankar Sukharan of 24 โCโ, No 79 Village, Corriverton murdered Krishendatt Kolandawell, also a fisherman of the same village.
Magistrate Krishndat Persaud found that there was sufficient evidence to commit Sukharan, who was represented by attorney-at-law, Rodwell Jagmohan.
He told the magistrate that he was innocent.
Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Michael Grant, in presenting the facts, said the men who were working together had a misunderstanding.
As a result, Kolandawell later went to the home of the accused, broke down his door and a scuffle ensued in the house.
They also ended up on the street where the fight continued.
At this point, he said the accused took a knife and dealt Kolandawell three stab wounds. He was picked up and taken to Skeldon hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
