Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday remanded a man to prison after he was accused of assaulting his pregnant, common law spouse.
Paul Waldron pleaded not guilty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s court to the charge of assaulting Anna Maria Chung on January 22.
The court heard that on the day in question the VC visited the home of the defendant at 13 William Street, Campbellville and enquired about him and was told that he was sleeping. The court was told that shortly after he came downstairs and grabbed her and dealt her several cuffs about her body.
The prosecution had no objection to bail and the defendant was remanded until March 5.
