Former first lady Varshnie Singh was this morning robbed of valuables by men armed with a knife and a cutlass as she was overseeing work at a construction site on D’Urban Street.
A senior police official, in confirming the incident, told Stabroek News that Singh was relieved of cash and jewellery.
He explained that around 9 am, Singh was at the building with some workers when two men walked up. The men brandished a cutlass and a knife respectively stuck up Singh and relieved her of her valuables before making good their escape.
The official said Singh was not harmed during the ordeal.
Police are continuing investigations.
