The body of a man was yesterday afternoon discovered in a canal in the vicinity of the Russian Embassy, in Georgetown.
The remains of the man, said to be of African descent, are at Lyken’s Funeral Parlour to be identified.
It is said to be that of a man known by residents as Montique Smith. However, when contacted late last evening officials at the funeral parlour said the body was yet to be identified formally by a relative. Also, calls to the Kitty Police Station to verify if anyone fitting the man’s description had been reported missing went unanswered.
The body, which bore no visible marks of violence, was discovered by residents of the community late yesterday afternoon and they immediately summoned the police to the scene. Shortly after, the man was picked up by undertakers of the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour.
