Raucous armed robbery accused remanded

Mark King, who pleaded not guilty to robbery with the use of a dangerous weapon and subsequently caused a raucous in court, was remanded to prison by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

It was alleged that on March 1 on the Agricola Public Road, King used an ice pick to rob Mamal Sukdeo of an Alcatel cell phone, worth $15,000. The court heard that Sukdeo was a passenger in a minibus and on disembarking, he was on a call when the accused snatched the phone and ran into Agricola.

Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry told King she was remanding him because of
