Three overseas coaches will begin a two-day coaches course today ahead of the start of the tournament phase of the Scotia/Pepsi Schools football Academy this weekend.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Coaching Instructor Rajesh Latchoo and United States-based Stan Harmon and Paul Beresford will conduct the sessions today and Friday for schools coaches who are preparing their teams for the start of the tournament Saturday. The programme will take place at the Ministry of Education Sports Complex on Carifesta Avenue starting at 09:00 hours each day.
Latchoo who is attached to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) was expected in Guyana this morning. Coaches will be exposed to the practical warm up, their role as coaches and organizing training sessions.
Both Harmon and Beresford conducted a similar programme last year while Harmon recently conducted a three-day Coaches course at the same venue with the coaches identified to be in charge of school teams. There will also be a presentation of equipment to St. Stanislaus College, Charlestown Secondary, Central High School and New Campbellville Secondary the four new schools competing this year. They will be joined by North Georgetown Secondary, Tucville Secondary, Queen’s College, Christ Church, Tutorial High, East Ruimveldt Secondary, St. George’s Secondary and St. Joseph’s High School. The presentation will take place this afternoon at the Ministry of Education Sports Complex at 15:30 hours.
It is expected that representatives of the main sponsors Demerara Distillers Ltd. and Scotia Bank will be present at the ceremony. Meanwhile, the Tournament will kick off on Saturday with an official opening ceremony of the 12 competing schools and two matches with the venue likely to be Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground at 09:00 hours.
