(Barbados Nation) The new interim selection committee has given marching orders to Barbados’ most prolific batsman in regional first-class cricket.
Ryan Hinds, the island’s highest run-scorer since the Caribbean’s first-class competition was sponsored in 1966, has been dropped for the sixth-round WICB Regional Four-day match against Leeward Islands starting Friday at Kensington Oval.
In explaining the rationale behind the decision yesterday, stand-in chairman of selectors Livy Coppin put it down to disappointing form by the former Barbados captain.
The 31-year-old Hinds, who has scored more than 5 000 first-class runs in Barbados colours, has struggled this season, mustering 123 runs at an average of 17.57 in four matches.
