When the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the death of Neesa Gopaul continued yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, the cross-examination of Simone De Nobrega took most of the day and is likely to be continued tomorrow at 10:00 am.
The PI being conducted before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry was initially scheduled to be held throughout this week but in order to facilitate the presence of all the attorneys involved it was rescheduled.
The courtroom was packed yesterday with relatives of the witness and both the accused.
Yesterday the defence attorneys appeared during the afternoon session but the bench was not spacious enough to seat all the attorneys present as some were in court for other cases as well as the Gopaul PI.
The mother of the deceased Bibi Gopaul and her lover Jarvis Small were charged for the murder of the schoolgirl Neesa Gopaul in the latter part of 2010.
