Laparkan Shipping has moved its Miami warehouse operations to a new state-of-the-art facility, which started working on Monday.
Laparkan Chairman and CEO Glen Khan said the move to the new 166,000 stockroom at 3775 NW 77th Street is intended to better serve the company’s expanding customer base, which includes personal effects shippers, commercial entities, government, NGOs and international organisations. It also provides more space for customers to pack their cargo and enhanced facilities for the handling of hazardous materials and bonded goods, Khan said in a press release.
The new facility also houses the Disaster Emergency Relief Centre, which serves as a logistics base for emergency relief services and supplies to be used in the event of a natural disaster in Florida and or countries in the Caribbean basin.
Laparkan donated a section of its warehouse for this service following the Haiti earthquake in January 2010 and working with the Americas Relief Team has transformed it into a permanent base to facilitate an immediate response in the event of a natural disaster.
Khan added that the investment in the new warehouse is part of the company’s ongoing modernisation programme.
