Guyana’s Beacons Masters Football Club will clash with an over-40 Surinamese team this Saturday at the Tucville Community Centre ground from 19:00hrs.
The Surinamese team which is currently on tour, according to national coach Gordon Braithwaite, will make a pit stop for the clash with Guyana this Saturday with a prize yet to be announced by the National Sports Commission (NSC).
Beacons Masters will boast players such as Mortimer Stewart, Lionel Grimes, Sherwin Grimes, Frank Spencer and possibly guest players Terrence Wills and Kevin Archer. Beacons will be coached by Gordon ‘Ultimate Warrior’ Braithwaite.
However, Braithwaite thinks that the fixture will be a good one because of Suriname’s long history of playing good football.
“Well I don’t know the level of the team but Suriname always plays good football so they will come to win. I know they will also play clean, constructive football because of their age so it should be a good game,” Braithwaite stated.
Meanwhile Braithwaite believes that his team should fare well since they are preparing for the upcoming Maters tournament at home.
“Well we are up to scratch because we are preparing for our own tournament home, while we are allowed to have a few players below 40 on the team at home, I’m not sure what the Surinamese will agree to but we are set for the match,” he concluded.
The Surinamese team is expected to stay for three days in Guyana and they will arrive tomorrow.
