(Jamaica Gleaner) United States-based Jamaican law professor, David Rowe, is projecting that the Judge will “throw the book” at convicted drug don Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.
The former West Kingston strongman is due to be sentenced at 2:00 o’clock this afternoon in the United States Southern District Court of New York after he pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy charges last August.
“I predict that Judge Patterson will sentence Christopher Coke to the maximum guideline sentence permitted by law,” Rowe told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre.
”This sentence will be 23 years or more if the Judge decides to use his discretion under US v Booker and sentence him above the guidelines,” added Professor Rowe.
Prosecutors have asked the Judge to sentence Coke to the maximum sentence of 23 years while his defence attorneys have pleaded for a lighter sentence.
